About Us
This is the story about how Sweet Poppin's™ got started:
"Sometime around June or July 2003, I had a dream. I don't remember if I was asleep or day-dreaming. In my dream, which I didn't realize I had until days later, I saw how to make this popcorn. I saw everything in the dream - how to do the chocolate, how to do the flavoring, and how to put all of it on the popcorn and still make it look good.
The only flavoring I had at the time was Pralines & Cream, so I made some according to what I saw in my dream. I took some to a Vacation Bible School pitch in at church and came back with an empty bowl. I knew I was on to something!
The next flavor test was Blueberry Cheesecake. I thought, "Hey, why not have blue popcorn for the blueberry and white popcorn for the cheesecake?" I tried it and it turned out to be very delicious! After my husband saw and tasted the many wonderful flavors, he took orders at work for the popcorn. They named him "Popcorn Man"! The popcorn was such a hit, that samples were literally stolen from other workers tool boxes.
In order to turn what we had into a business, we knew that we had to make the popcorn in a legitimate location that had been inspected by the Board of Health. Since we have small children, we knew that a retail location wouldn’t be feasible since all of our time spent would be there at the store. So, we rented a space and turned it into a commercial kitchen. From there, we made over 20 flavors of Sweet Poppin’s and Caramel Chocolate Pretzel Rods. Demand was high and keeping up with it was difficult. So, my husband suggested finding a manufacturer to make it for us in bulk. And now, here we are!
Oh yeah, and the dream? Since I don't remember exactly how or when I had it, I just give all credit to God. He got us started and He will see us through. .
